What makes HIKARI RITUALS matcha different?
We provide 100% organic cceremonial grade matcha sourced straight from the authentic source, Uji, Japan. We want to make top tier quality matcha accessible to matcha lovers here in Australia. Without the hefty price tags, our matcha is not of any less quality, in fact the BEST quality. Stone milled for smoothness, optimal nutritional benefits and of course the naturally sweet, unami tatse.
-
Is it ceremonial or culinary grade?
Our matcha is nothing less than Organic, Ceremonial grade. Pickled exclusively from the first harvest of tea leaves, its smooth, vibrant and NOT bitter. Perfect addition to your daily RITUAL.
-
Whats the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade??
Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest quality, made from the youngest tea leaves (first harvest), and is bright green, smooth, and slightly sweet — perfect for traditional tea ceremonies and enjoying the smoothest, creamiest lattes.
Culinary grade matcha is made from slightly older leaves (usually second harvest), has a more robust, bitter flavour, and is more of a murky less vibrant green.
-
Does matcha contain caffeine?
Yes, matcha contains caffeine—about half the amount of coffee per serving. However, unlike coffee, matcha also has L-theanine, which promotes a calm, focused energy without the jittery crash. Matcha is the best friend to those with anxiety.
-
How do I make a matcha?
Use 1 tsp (2-4g… I find 3g is the perfect amount), sift this into a bowl. Add 40ml/40g hot water (80 degrees) and whisk to make a matcha paste. Add in ¼ cup coconut water or water and whisk in a W motion until a micro foam is formed. Add milk, ice and sweeteners as you like.
-
Best way to store matcha?
Keep your matcha in an airtight bag (our bag is perfect) or container, not clear or glass. Its extremely sensitive to light and air exposure. Store in a cool dry place. For best freshness, refrigerate after opening and consume within 30-60 days.
